BitMine’s ETH Treasury Tops $6.6B, Surpassing MARA in Crypto Holdings

BitMine Immersion Technology, led by Chairman Tom Lee, has grown its ETH holdings to more than $6.6 billion.
As of August 17, 2025, the U.S.-based company now holds 1,523,373 ETH, valued at $4,326 each, along with 192 Bitcoin, according to a press release. This has pushed the firm to be the #1 ETH treasury in the world and now the 2nd largest crypto treasury globally, surpassing MARA Holding.
Tom Lee, also a co-founder of Fundstrat, said, “In just a week, BitMine increased its ETH holdings by $1.7 billion to $6.6 billion, as institutional investors have expressed interest and support for our pursuit of the ‘alchemy of 5%’ of ETH.”
He emphasized that Ethereum is “one of the biggest macro trades over the next 10–15 years” and pointed to the migration of Wall Street and AI onto the blockchain as reasons for the company’s bullish strategy.
The company launched its ETH Treasury strategy on June 30 and closed it on July 8. In just six weeks, BitMine has passed many milestones, quickly building the largest Ethereum treasury in the world and the second-largest corporate crypto treasury overall, behind MicroStrategy. The move has made BitMine stock (BMNR) one of the most actively traded in the U.S., averaging $6.4 billion in daily volume and ranking 10th in liquidity.
Despite a one-day loss of 2.72%, BMNR shares have surged 667% year-to-date.
This performance has drawn attention from top investors such as Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest, Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, and Kraken. Meanwhile, the company plans on quickly building its ETH holdings, keeping its stock easy to trade, and earning trust with big investors.
Lee added, “As we continue to say, we are leading crypto treasury peers by both the velocity of raising crypto NAV per share and by the high trading liquidity of our stock.” The company’s ETH growth comes at a time when institutions are rebalancing their portfolios to include crypto assets, and initiatives like the SEC’s Project Crypto and the GENIUS Act are shaping the U.S. financial landscape.
Bitmine’s bold moves show how fast a company can grow in the crypto world. With its eyes set on owning 5% in all ETH while leading in trading volume, the company shows that smart strategy and strong liquidity can grab investors’ attention and change the game for corporate crypto holdings.
