Bybit Secures UAE’s First Full Crypto License from SCA

Bybit has officially secured the Virtual Asset Platform Operator License from the UAE’s Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA), becoming the first crypto exchange to receive full national approval.
This step strongly supports the UAE’s plan to be a top global hub for digital assets. The new license allows the exchange to fully comply with local laws while offering all of its global products.
This reflects Bybit’s commitment to transparency and adherence to clear regulations, as well as its goal of expanding its presence in local markets and making crypto more accessible.”
The company first got an In-Principle Approval (IPA) from the SCA in February 2025. This final license shows the regulator fully trusts Bybit’s security and high standards.
Bybit will now offer regulated virtual asset trading, brokerage, custody, and fiat conversion services. These services are available to everyday people and big institutions across the entire UAE.
To make this happen, the exchange plans to open a large regional center in Abu Dhabi. They will hire more than 500 employees across both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This push includes new educational and Web3 programs with local partners.
Co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou said, “Receiving the full Virtual Asset Platform Operator License from the SCA is a testament to Bybit’s unwavering commitment to building trust through compliance and transparency.”
He also noted, “The UAE has emerged as a global leader in digital asset regulation, and this recognition underscores the strength of our security and governance standards.”
Co-CEO Helen Liu also sincerely thanked the SCA for their support. She stated the SCA’s framework provides a strong foundation for global exchanges like Bybit to operate with confidence.
The license comes after other big steps for Bybit in 2025. For example, they secured their MiCAR license in Europe.
They also resumed full trading operations in India in September after paying a $1.06 million fine to the FIU to follow local laws. These steps show that Bybit is choosing legal compliance as a smart way to grow around the world.
