Michael Saylor’s company, Strategy, added to its Bitcoin holdings once more with a purchase of 6,220 more BTC worth $739.8 million. This was after a week of intense market activity, with Bitcoin pushing beyond the $122,000 mark for the first time before pulling back to hold at $118,000.
The latest purchase brings Strategy’s total Bitcoin holdings to 607,770 BTC, acquired at an average price of $71,756 per coin. The company’s total investment now amounts to approximately $43.6 billion.
The new purchase was disclosed in a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday, July 21st.
Bitcoin, which started last week trading above $122,000, briefly dipped to $116,000 midweek before settling near $118,000 by Sunday.
With the fresh addition, Strategy’s year-to-date Bitcoin yield has risen to 20.8%, up from 20.2% the previous week.
The firm introduced the BTC yield metric in August 2024 to measure the percentage change in the ratio between its Bitcoin holdings and its assumed diluted shares outstanding.
Strategy’s in-house management has also seen fabulous trading activity in the interim. Wei-Ming Shao, Strategy’s highest-ranking executive vice president, sold 10,900 shares of Strategy common stock for approximately $4.9 million.
This follows a larger $25.7 million sale of MSTR shares by the same executive in the previous week, also disclosed in SEC filings.
The recent purchase is part of Strategy’s ongoing Bitcoin accumulation strategy, with the company having acquired over 10,400 BTC so far in July. This comes after acquiring 17,075 BTC in June, 26,695 in May, and 25,370 in April.
