Tether Backs Parfin to Boost USDT Use in Latin America

Tether has invested in Parfin, a digital asset platform, to grow USDT use for institutions in Latin America. As a result, the move aims to make blockchain payments easier and faster for banks and companies.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the investment shows the company’s belief in Latin America as a blockchain leader. Meanwhile, Parfin CEO Marcos Viriato said the funding validates their work in bringing secure, compliant digital tools to institutions.

According to the press release, the investment will help Parfin expand its tools for custody, trading, and on-chain settlement. For example, these services include cross-border payments, tokenization of real-world assets, and credit markets.

Parfin works in Brazil, Argentina, and London and has registered as a virtual asset service provider in Argentina. Tether’s USDT is the largest stablecoin with a market value of $183.73 billion. Although the investment size was not disclosed, it shows Tether’s focus on institutional adoption.

It is important to note that Latin America is seeing more people use cryptocurrency, based on an October report from Chainalysis. From July 2022 to June 2025, the region had almost $1.5 trillion in crypto transactions. Brazil led with $318.8 billion and Argentina followed with $93.9 billion.

Parfin makes tools that let companies use digital assets safely and follow the rules. Their platform, Rayls, helps businesses work online securely. With Tether’s support, these tools will grow and make USDT a trusted way to settle payments. Ardoino said the goal is to give more companies access to blockchain technology.

The move shows how stablecoins and digital assets are becoming a part of Latin America’s financial system. Furthermore, it highlights how partnerships between global companies and local platforms can boost innovation.
