Trezor Launches Safe 7 Wallet With Quantum-Ready Security

Trezor, a pioneer in crypto hardware wallets, has unveiled the new Trezor Safe 7, a device designed to strengthen security and transparency in digital asset storage.

CEO Matěj Žák unveiled the product in Prague during the Trustless by Design (TBD) event.

The Safe 7 is powered by TROPIC01, the world’s first fully auditable and transparent secure element. Unlike traditional wallets that use closed, proprietary systems, the new device allows users at large to review and verify the chip’s design . This is aimed at removing the need for blind trust in hardware while increasing confidence in crypto security tools.

In addition to transparency, the new invention is built with quantum-ready architecture to prepare users and the crypto community for the next generation of computing.

CTO Tomáš Sušanka explained that the device includes a quantum-ready bootloader that allows secure updates when post-quantum algorithms become necessary. “Within the next decade, Bitcoin and other blockchains will have to move to post-quantum algorithms. It’s not a question of if, but when,” Sušanka said.

The wallet also emphasises self-custody, reinforcing Trezor’s belief in user control over digital assets. Žák noted that the device responds to the growing trend of users moving toward custodial platforms and ETFs. “We believe it’s more important than ever to reinforce what self-custody really means,  full control, without compromise,” he said.

Safe 7 includes dual secure elements for stronger protection, keeping private keys completely isolated. Users must confirm all critical actions on a 2.5-inch colour touchscreen, ensuring every transaction is verified directly on the device.

Aside from the feature mentioned above, Safe 7 was also designed for convenience. The hardware wallet supports Bluetooth Low Energy, wireless charging, and connects through the Trezor Host Protocol (THP) for encrypted communication.

Safe 7 is currently priced at $249. The Safe 7 comes in a durable aluminium unibody, Gorilla Glass 3 display, IP54 protection, and a long-lasting LiFePO4 battery. A Bitcoin-only edition is also available.
